ELIE SAAB IS RENEWING HIS COLLECTION AS SPRING DOES.

THE FASHION WEEK READY TO WEAR COLLECTION OF SPRING-SUMMER OF ELIE SAAB.

This year, the Spring-Summer Ready-to-wear collection of the Lebanese designer Elie Saab was hosted in Paris for the fashion week 2019. The fashion show took place in the Grand Palais of Paris, symbolic and very famous place for the french fashion industry.

Elegancy is the main keyword of Elie Saab’s universe. The fashion designer has always been passionated about dressing women, he is always inspired for dressing them with the most elegant and chic clothes that could underline the charm of every woman in the world. He is world-wide known for all the refined dresses he can create, that all look like princesses dresses, with wide gowns and fine details. The collection ideas emerged from his head with the utmost sensibility and respect towards women, as always trying to beautify them and celebrate the femininity in his outfits, the allurement of every women and their brilliance.

Even though the Saab signature, as it is called, was very present on his collection with all the different looks filled with mainly flowers prints and waits dresses, the designer tried to step out of his comfort zone, trying to serve the clientele’s needs. He still broke the codes and added his touch of newness in the outfits, adding a little bit of more adapted to the everyday-life looks.

The fashion house was showing a different palette of colours as usual in all of his collections, with a lot of rainbow unicoloured dresses, to bring more refinement to the looks.

However, there was little innovation which consists in the black and white outfits. Elie Saab wanted to give more simplicity to his outfits, in a way which women could adapt their clothing to different situations in their lives such as a meeting, a date, a simple working day, a family event etc…

The black fabric under the others ones is giving an effect of self-confidence, which Saab was looking for, and displaying his idea of the power of the woman nature and figure. The flowers prints, — whether they are present as a scarf, or a complete transparent upper gown — upon the black fabric is still adding the womanhood he wants to the look, by its delicacy, which was very important to show for the designer.

Numerous recognizable fabrics are present in this collection, such as lace, silk chiffon, leather, sequins and embroideries. The creator is used to work with those textures when he is designing new apparels, always in line with the feminine glamour. A romantic side is given by the choice of the flower prints, which is also the soul of the Saab couture house, but loads of animal prints are used as well, from head to top, in the suit until the cuissards boots and the head scarf.

The simplicity of the outfits is highlighted by the choice of the place, which is a pretty small and sober stylised room in the Grand Palais of Paris which gives to the catwalk all the magnificence it needs. The catwalk is not that long to walk on, the models are giving light to the location which is very classic, even if the place itself is really prestigious.

The show has a lot of fashion influence from the 80s, which is noticeable by the diverse prints but it’s also observable with the several musics that are enhancing the show. The models are furthermore confident since the music helps them walking in rhythm with it. The music is changing three times and this is a sign that the catwalk is divided in three parts.

Firstly, the innovation of the black and white outfits, which is the main surprise of Elie Saab, who wanted his outfits to correspond to the clientele’s demand. We can see that as an introduction to the designer show, because it’s showing the subject and the point of this new collection but also, who is the designer. There are still flowers prints that are present, in order to give a good transition to the next part.

Secondly, costumes and more casual apparel are presented. All the unicoloured dresses and suits are well depicted by the music because it’s giving an allure to those "working women" Elie Saab wanted to expose, among all the different portraits of different woman cited in this fashion week show.

Thirdly, the music is changing for the last time because it’s time for the models to walk once more before the catwalk is finished, so they’re showing again a lot of beautiful outfits that we already saw, that look like a capsule collection all together. This final part is showing a lot of ball gowns dresses with flower prints all over the dress. All the models are walking again one behind the other, to conclude the show with the most beautiful looks.

In the audience, everyone was looking at the models walking as if they were some princesses or even fairies because of how they were embellished by all the various accessories that made them glittering. A spread of ornaments gave more and more assurance to the Saab girls. From the leather bags to the leather straps on the shoulder, to the leather belts or the golden glasses, the chain necklaces and the jewels like crystals. Even the shoes were giving an impression of self-esteem because of their iridescence and such high heels. They were so high that we can observe that one of the models had almost fall over the catwalk, and some were mistaking the way, but which woman on this world was born with high heels at their feet or a crown on their heads after all ?
